The ten paintings in this series done between 1993 and 1996 were made to anchor data received while in non-ordinary, altered states; I tried to depict as many components of each journey as my memory would allow. I often found myself making decorative marks such as dots—not unlike those found in Aboriginal Dreamtime imagery—that function as trails or roads back into the journeys. When I look at these pieces now, I can retrieve information downloaded from the experiences then later encoded in the paintings. The images function primarily as maps or journal entries but also as vehicles for integrating the journey experiences.
